The development of the Panamanian marine industry has proven quite successful. This has materialised due to sustainable development of ample port facilities, of ancillary services, growth in the Panamanian registry and the segment’s ancillary services.

 On March 3, 2009 technical and economic proposals were received from three of the four pre-qualifying consortia in the international tender for design and construction of the new Panama Canal’s super-locks, a pivotal component of the waterway’s expansion programme.
